The controller
Emberdorne is the controller for the personal data described here. Write to privacy@emberdorne.co.uk about anything on this page.
The short version
- No accounts, no sign-up and no email list.
- No cookies, no analytics, no advertising and no third-party scripts.
- Your glints, banners and settings stay in your own browser.
- If you write to us, we keep your letter so we can reply.
What stays in your browser
Emberdorne relies on browser storage, local and session, and never on cookies. The answer to the age question, your storage decision, a running pause and quiet hours are held on the device regardless, because the site cannot work safely without them. Your glints, banners and Play responsibly settings are kept on the device only if you accept storage; otherwise they last until you close the tab. None of this is sent to us. The Cookie notice lists every item.
Your letters to us
A letter by form or email gives us your name and email address, the subject you picked and your message. They serve one purpose: answering you. Our lawful basis is legitimate interests in answering the people who contact us. Letters are kept for 12 months after the last reply and then deleted.
Server logs
Our web server logs a few technical facts about every request, like the page, the time, the network address and the browser, to keep Emberdorne safe and running. These logs are kept for no longer than 30 days. The form also keeps a scrambled fingerprint of the sender's network address for one hour to limit spam.
Who else sees your data
Nobody, apart from the company that hosts Emberdorne, which holds the site files and logs for us under a written contract. Our hosting sits in the UK or the EEA. We never sell or share personal data for marketing.
Free Roam links
Free Roam links to other people's games. When you follow a link you leave Emberdorne, and the other site's own privacy policy applies. Several of them show adverts or use analytics; each review says so.
Your rights
Under UK data protection rules you may see the personal data we keep about you, to have it corrected or erased, to object to how it is used and to have its use limited. Write to privacy@emberdorne.co.uk; you will have an answer within a month. Data kept only in your browser can be removed by clearing the site's storage in your browser settings.
Children
Emberdorne is for adults only and is not meant for anyone under 18. Should a child have written to us, let us know and we will erase the letter.
Complaints
Unhappy about the way your data was treated? Tell us first. You can also take a complaint to the Information Commissioner's Office, which regulates data protection in the UK, at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
