About Stoke
Stoke is the shortest round in the keep, and the most honest about its odds. Before you start you choose a heat: 10, 15, 20, 25 or 30. Then a single die is thrown again and again. Each throw from two to six adds to the fire. A one puts it out.
If the total reaches your heat before a one appears, the fire holds and the round pays at the rate for that heat. If a one comes first, the stake is lost, however close the fire was. A higher heat needs more throws, so it pays more and succeeds less often.
Many games of this kind ask you after every throw whether to carry on. Stoke does not. The only choice is the heat, made before the round, so there is no moment where a near miss tempts you to push on. The table below prints the exact chance of reaching each heat next to what it pays.
How to play
- Choose a heat: 10, 15, 20, 25 or 30.
- Pick a stake from 5 to 200 glints and press Stoke.
- The die is thrown until the total reaches the heat or a one comes up. There is nothing else to press.
- Reached: the stake comes back multiplied by the heat's rate. Put out: nothing comes back.
Pay table
Every figure is what comes back for one glint staked; multiply by your stake. The chance column is exact, worked out from the dice, not from play. The numbers come straight from the data file the game itself reads.
| Heat you choose | Chance to reach it | Back for 1 glint |
|---|---|---|
| Heat 10 | 59.0 % | 1.61 |
| Heat 15 | 47.0 % | 2.02 |
| Heat 20 | 37.5 % | 2.54 |
| Heat 25 | 30.0 % | 3.18 |
| Heat 30 | 23.9 % | 3.99 |

Where to stop
Short rounds pile up quickly: thirty rounds of Stoke take a few minutes. Set a round limit on the Play responsibly page if you like this chamber, and let it close the door for you.
Fair play
Your browser's built-in randomness settles each outcome the instant you press the button. Nothing is tuned to your glints, your history, the hour or the length of your session, and the chamber has no idea who you are. Across many rounds every chamber returns somewhat less than it takes in, which is how games of chance are built. Glints are worth nothing in money, so nothing real changes hands either way.
No round is ever bought: every chamber is free, glints cannot be purchased, and a free rekindle to 2,000 glints is there whenever you drop below 40. Playing or success here does not imply future success at real-money gambling.
